Where the romance starts
Lucifer's first free steps are in Season 1, Episode 4 ("About you.") and Episode 5 ("Play along."). A diamond kiss on the cheek costs 8 in Season 1, Episode 5, but the next step in Episode 9 ("He's with me.") is free again. So you can test the waters almost for nothing.
Where diamonds decide it
The expensive fun starts in Season 2: the passionate kiss in Episode 1 costs 33, "I want it." in Episode 8 costs 30. In Season 3, "No, stay." (Episode 6) also costs 33 — two of the five most expensive steps. If you want to save, skip the 33-diamond scenes and take the 30-diamond ones: there are three of them, and they're a bit cheaper.
Can you do it for free?
Not the whole route, but a good chunk: 6 free steps out of 15. You'll get the first two free moves right away, so the romance isn't blocked by a paywall. But for the full path you'll need 223 diamonds, which is noticeably more than Dino, Andy, Malbonte, Bont or Loy might ask — compare before you decide.
