Doran costs 1151 diamonds, tied with Christian, behind Ram at 1313. Every one of his 21 steps is paid. He barely appears in Season 1, with a single 22-diamond step in Episode 9, and then the route gets steadily more expensive: 397 in Season 2 and 732 in Season 3.

Where the diamonds go

Season 2's biggest episode is Episode 7, A Caged Predator: four steps, 34 + 11 + 66 + 66, for 177. Episode 10, Desire of the Goddess, adds "I know." for 77.

How I'd play it

Season 1 costs you 22 diamonds for Doran, so play it for anyone. From Season 2, keep a separate save slot. I'd move Season 3, Episodes 3, 8 and 12 to Diamond Rush: that's 449 diamonds. With no free steps, every skipped choice is a skipped scene, so decide early. Compare with Kamal at 786.
