Shadows of Saintfour 2 is the second story set in Saintfour, so if you haven't played the first Shadows of Saintfour, start there. This part is ongoing: the English version has 15 episodes of Season 1 and 167 choices, and new episodes land on the update schedule. It's horror with a mystical streak.
Saintfour is divided into a new city and an old one, infected by a poisonous flower and closed off. The heroine is a school journalist who goes into the forbidden zone anyway. The first two episodes share one warning, "something wicked stalks the school corridors", and then it gets worse: the dead leave traces, and the clues that guide you can turn into traps.
This is the most important thing to know before you start. A route is made of romance steps, the choices that move a romance forward, and in this story not a single one of them is free.
Dex is the one players ask about most, by a wide margin: 6 steps, all paid, 331 diamonds. He's also the priciest route overall.
Rudy matches him in length: 6 steps for 308 diamonds, about 51 per step.
Darren is short: 3 steps, 183 diamonds, the priciest per step at 61. Howard, Nathaniel Howard, is the cheapest: 3 steps, 161 diamonds.
There's no "free version" of any romance here. Skip a step and the relationship takes the hit. All four routes together come to 983 diamonds, so playing every route is a serious savings project. With 300 diamonds you can cover Darren or Howard completely, but neither Rudy nor Dex: they need 308 and 331.
My advice: pick one guy early, put all diamonds toward his steps and nothing else until his route is done.
The story itself is gentler on the wallet than the romance: 56 of the 167 choices are paid, about a third. Buying every paid option in the season would come to 4,286 diamonds.

Episode 1 being the most expensive is an unusual trap: the game asks for diamonds before you even know who you like. I'd play it free, then replay it in a separate slot during Diamond Rush, when paid choices are free in every story.
